You can also get out of yourself and meet new people by doing volunteer work. Food banks can almost always use another set of hands, as can soup kitchens to help those who would not eat otherwise. Instead of thinking about your relationship, you can find gratitude that you have a place to live and food to eat.
Of course, there are many other ways to volunteer your time. For instance, you could read to elementary school children or help at a domestic violence shelter. Perhaps you have an interest in literacy that you can use to instruct others who do not know how to read. There are all kinds of ways. Think about your skills and interests to figure out what would be best for you.
A Time to Be Active
Scenes of relationships breaking up often include indulging in comfort foods like ice cream. While these may taste delicious, the added weight will not feel so good, nor will it be good for your self esteem. Instead of munching out on your favorite snack foods, get active!
Learn how to do a new type of dance or take up the ancient practice of yoga. Perhaps you would rather learn a martial art or get involved in a team sport, such as joining a softball league. Instead, you could learn how to kayak, ride a mountain bike long distances or otherwise challenge yourself physically.
Exercise like this will keep your body in good shape and releases chemicals and hormones that will boost your mood as well. Depending on the activity that you decide on, you may also have the chance to interact with a whole new set of people.
